ST. LOUIS – Wayne D. Lozier Jr., a 44-year-old bounty hunter from the New Orleans area, was found guilty on September 28 of kidnapping and conspiracy charges in the abduction of a St. Peters woman, whom he drove across state lines. During the trial, evidence, including Lozier's own body camera footage, showed that the victim had a warrant issued for her arrest in Louisiana. A bond service had hired Lozier and his partner, Jody L. Sullivan, to find and retrieve the victim. On May 9, 2019, Sullivan rented an SUV, and both individuals, armed with firearms and Tasers, drove to St. Charles County. Current El Niño conditions that began a couple months early this year could develop into one of the strongest events on record this winter, according to an experimental research prediction system from the National Science Foundation’s National Center for Atmospheric Research. If the forecast system is right, this El Niño would be comparable to the major El Niño of 1997 and 1998.“Our forecast system has shown that it can do a remarkably good job of accurately hindcasting past El Niño events when we’ve tested it using historical data, which gives us high confidence in this forecast,” NCAR scientist Stephen Yeager, who helped lead the modeling effort, said in a news release.El Niño events, which usually peak in December, are characterized by warmer-than-average temperatures in the Tropical Pacific Ocean. They can have a significant impact on weather patterns across North America, causing the northern U.S. and Canada to become warmer and drier than usual while the southern U.S. becomes w...

Around the AFCSomebody, anybody? The Broncos are winless. The Chargers and Raiders enter Week 4 each at 1-2 and set to face each other. They account for three of the NFL’s five worst defenses so far. Justin Herbert’s playing great under OC Kellen Moore (third in passing yards, second in quarterback rating so far) but the Chargers have losses to Miami and Tennessee on the books already. The Raiders? Well … probably not.Promising start. Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud is already turning heads. He’s fifth in the NFL in passing yards through three games (908), 10th in quarterback rating and has thrown 121 passes without an interception. The rookie struggles are likely coming at some point, but the former Ohio State standout has hopes running high in Houston. What coulda been. It should have been Patrick Mahomes against Aaron Rodgers.
