Why do we feel colder as we age? (WGN Radio) — Depending on where you live, you may be experiencing some of the coldest days of the season. If you aren't there yet, don't worry — winter technically hasn't even started yet. As you bundle up before heading outside to face Old Man Winter, you may find yourself adding more layers than your kids or even more than when you were a kid. But why is it that we seem to feel colder as we grow older?There are a few reasons, Dr. Kevin Most, Chief Medical Officer at Northwestern Medicine’s Central DuPage Hospital, told WGN Radio's Bob Sirott. More with Dr. Kevin Most When we're younger, we have more muscle mass and body fat, which keeps us warmer. We also have better circulation than when we are older. It's like having insulation in your home. "As we age, our skin is a lot thinner, so it loses heat a lot easier," Most explained, adding that we also have less fat and muscle mass the older we get. "So that senior who's wearing the sweater, there's reasons for it," he continued....

I was listening to a pretty good interview on career issues when the adviser suggested limiting resumes to the last 10 years, “because no one wants to read a three-page resume.”Which sent me to the internet, just to see what’s happening these days. I was hoping to find studies about the effectiveness of resumes at different lengths, but not very many have been done. Those that have seem to indicate a preference for at least two pages on the part of recruiters and hiring managers.Not surprisingly, some of the studies contradict each other. 7.6 magnitude earthquake strikes off the southern Philippines and a tsunami warning is issued MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 struck Saturday off the cost of the southern Philippines island of Mindanao and Philippine authorities issued a tsunami warning. The quake struck at 10:37 p.m. and was measured at a depth of 32 kilometers (20 miles). There are no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said based on the magnitude and location it expected tsunami waves to hit the southern Philippines and parts of Indonesia, Palau and Malaysia.The USGS gave a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 while the Philippine agency in charge of earthquakes said it measured 6.9.
